Frequently asked questions
What is CourtStairs?
CourtStairs is an AI legal assistant for Portuguese and EU law that answers questions in plain language with citations to primary sources, and helps with research, drafting, calls, and meetings.
How do I try it for free?
Sign up and you get the free tier automatically — no credit card, no time limit. New accounts also get 30 days of full access to start.
What does it cost after the free access?
You can keep using the free tier or choose a paid plan for higher limits and advanced features. See the pricing on the Buy page, or email support@courtstairs.com.
Is my data private and where is it hosted?
Core data is hosted in contracted regions with encryption in transit and at rest and access controls, aligned with the GDPR. We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.
Does CourtStairs give legal advice?
No. It provides general legal information with citations to primary sources, and it is not a substitute for advice from a licensed lawyer about your specific situation.
How accurate are the answers, and do they cite sources?
Every answer links to primary Portuguese and EU legal sources and shows the reference, date, and jurisdiction, so you can open the source and verify it yourself.
Which law does CourtStairs cover?
CourtStairs covers Portuguese national law and EU law, and it distinguishes national rules from EU-wide rules where that matters.
Do you support Portuguese?
Yes. Portuguese is a first-class experience, not a translation layer, and CourtStairs is also available in English. Switch the language toggle to change it.
What can I do with calls and meetings?
CourtStairs can transcribe and analyze your calls and meetings and save the results alongside your cases and research.
What files can I upload?
You can upload PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and image files.
Is CourtStairs for lawyers or for individuals?
Both. It offers deep research, drafting, and case strategy for lawyers, and plain-language cited answers for everyone else.
What are my GDPR rights and how do I delete my data?
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. We act on it following our Privacy Policy, except records we must keep by law. Email support@courtstairs.com to start.
How do I contact support?
